About KSO Sponsored Play XVI

Following the phenomenal success of its Sponsored Play at Westfield London (Shepherd’s Bush) in 2015, which raised over £15,000 for War Child, Kensington Symphony Orchestra returns to Westfield on Sunday 29 April 2018 for another Sponsored Play, the third at Westfield London and the 16th in a series that started in 1989.

The format is simple: for 6 hours, between 70 and 100 musicians from KSO perform a continuous concert in front of Westfield’s shopping crowds, conducted by more than 25 volunteers from all walks of life, each of whom donates money in exchange for their few minutes of fame on the podium.

KSO is grateful to Westfield London, which provides great support for the event so that all the proceeds can go to charity.

The money raised from sponsorship and donations on the day will go to two charities: the majority will go to our chosen charity; the rest goes to KSO (also a registered charity), which uses the money to support its concerts and its own charitable aims.

Kensington Symphony Orchestra, one of the UK’s finest non-professional orchestras, has spent more than 60 years at the heart of London’s amateur music scene. It enjoys a reputation for performing concerts at the highest standards at its home at St John’s Smith Square in Westminster, at Queen Elizabeth Hall and at Cadogan Hall.
