Lutosławski
Concerto for Orchestra

Enescu's superbly orchestrated Romanian Rhapsody depicts a succession of festive scenes from his native country, whilst in his heart-rending Kindertotenlieder Mahler tragically foresaw the death of his own child. With its bold colours and folk-inspired freshness, Lutoslawski's Concerto for Orchestra is one of the few great postwar works with immediate appeal.
