Monica McGhee

Soprano Monica McGhee is a graduate of the RSAMD and the RCM having graduated with Distinction from the Masters in vocal Performance course at the RCM. She studies with fellow Scottish soprano Marie McLaughlin.

Monica’s work at English National Opera includes singing Cio Cio San for ENO’s Baylis Projects and Violetta in their West End Live appearance. She was one of the Theban Virgins in the Royal Opera House 2016 production of Oedipe and sings there regularly in the extra chorus.

Competition success includes finalist in the Les Azuriales competition in 2011 and 2014, and a finalist in the prestigious Susan Chilcott Award in 2016.

Operatic work includes Frasquita (cover) for Scottish Opera's Carmen, Giannetta and Adina (cover) for Haddo House Opera, Gretel for Bloomsbury Opera and Gherardino in the RSAMD and Scottish Opera production of Gianni Schicchi. In 2016 she sang the role of The Wise Woman in the world premiere of The Glass Knight at Saffron Hall. More recent engagements are Gontran in Une Education Manquée for Pop Up Opera, and Leila in The Pearl Fishers for Opera Bohemia.
