Conductor: Russell Keable

Magnus Lindberg
Gran Duo
Violin Concerto No. 2
Violin: Gina McCormack
Symphony No. 4

The concert opens with Magnus Lindberg's Gran Duo, a dialogue between woodwind and brass that was described in The Times as "a darkly brooding yet peaceful work that reflects something of a unique landscape". From this string-free Finnish vista, we bring the violin to the fore, welcoming back Gina McCormack as soloist in Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2. We end with Schumann's last symphony, his No. 4 in D minor.
